Welcoming Government Contractors to Leesburg

Last month, the National HUBZone Conference came to The National Conference Center in Lansdowne. This was the first year the event was held so close to Loudoun County’s only HUBZone, located in Downtown Leesburg. Leesburg Economic Development was a proud sponsor of this event and along with the National HUBZone Council, welcomed over 700 attendees. Conference sessions were focused on teaching attendees about the many aspects of government contracting, as well as managing a small business. Attendees heard from leaders in the government contracting space including some of our very own Leesburg business owners. Bob Cusack and Lisa Cusack, owners of Custom Software Systems, participated in panel discussions with members of the Department of Energy, the Army Office of Small Business Programs, and many others. There were opportunities for matchmaking so that contractors could meet with contracting officers and begin building relationships that end in signed contracts and happy customers.

Overall, it was a great event, and we hope to continue to support it in future years.  Leesburg Economic Development is proud of our HUBZone and government contracting business community. We are committed to providing resources and information to any business interested in possible HUBZone properties and certification or general information about government contracting. To Learn more about the Leesburg HUBZone, mark your calendar for the next quarterly HUBZone meeting scheduled for December 7th with speaker information coming soon.
