Think you need a passport to try all the cuisines of the world? Think again. You can explore countries and cultures through cuisines right here in Leesburg. From a bowl of aromatic pho to a handmade empanada, it’s all within reach. As summer interns with Leesburg’s Department of Economic Development, we’ve gotten a behind-the-scenes look at the heartbeat of the town, whether it’s grabbing lunch at a culturally rich spot or attending a ribbon cutting for a new restaurant. Leesburg is full of flavor. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, here’s your passport to travel the world, one bite at a time.
Start your journey with the bold, unforgettable flavors of Mexico. First stop: Señor Ramon Taqueria, where the street taco reigns supreme. With edgy menu names like El D.F. and El Gringo, and toppings from carnitas to fried avocado, this fast-casual spot delivers an authentic taste of Mexico. Another must-try is Casa De Avila, a hidden gem just off the main drag. This family-run restaurant offers a warm atmosphere and dishes that taste like home. From handmade tamales to chiles rellenos and pozole, every bite is packed with heritage. Then visit La Chocita Grill, a cozy downtown spot blending Mexican and Peruvian traditions. Think charcoal-grilled chicken, pupusas, tamal de pollo, and yuca con chicharrón. With pet-friendly outdoor seating, it’s perfect for sharing a meal with your furry friend.
Now let’s head to the eastern hemisphere, where the vibrant flavors of Asian cuisine await. Thanks to Leesburg’s cultural diversity, you can explore authentic tastes of Asia without leaving town. First stop: The Thai Pan Restaurant, a surprising gem tucked inside a gas station. Don’t let the location fool you. This spot serves bold Thai dishes locals swear by. Whether you’re fueling up or just stopping by, grab a bowl of drunken noodles or spicy basil fried rice. Next is Ebisu Sushi and Thai, a sleek newcomer that opened in early 2025, hosting their ribbon cutting in mid July, which we had the amazing opportunity to attend! It combines fresh sushi with Thai recipes passed down through generations. From plated sashimi to rich curries, Ebisu delivers both flavor and hospitality. Finally, visit Jasmine Chinese Cuisine, a downtown favorite blending traditional Chinese dishes with sushi options. Known for its fresh ingredients and flavorful plates, it’s a go-to for lo mein, rice bowls, and specialty rolls.
Now we circle back home, where American comfort food brings our culinary journey full circle. Downtown Leesburg is more than charming. It is a hub for cozy diners, hearty breakfasts, and nostalgic bites. Start with Lightfoot Restaurant, an upscale spot in a restored bank building, known for dishes like crab and shrimp à la vodka and live piano brunches. For something retro, check out the Leesburg Diner, a longtime favorite serving cheeseburgers, milkshakes, and brunch cocktails. For a southern-style breakfast, Buford’s Biscuits is beloved for its flaky, buttery biscuit-based meals. It’s casual, welcoming, and great for families. Need something quick? Stop by Puccio’s New York Deli, where classic sandwiches are stacked high with meats, cheeses, and house-made spreads. And to end on a sweet note, visit Mom’s Apple Pie Company, known for its house-made pies, breads, and soups.
Leesburg may be small, but its flavors are global. These local restaurants do more than feed us. They reflect the cultures and stories of the people who built them. Thanks for tuning in to this month’s blog edition written Medha and Pragya, the interns with the Town of Leesburg Economic Development Department. We hope you grab a friend, pick a new spot, and try something different this week. Whether you’re in the mood for noodles or nachos, Leesburg’s got you covered!
